Why Reading Can Build Kindness EP13

Waki Chuang, Founder of Reading Outpost

October 4, 2021

"You are what you read."

We speak to Waki Chuang, founder of Reading Outpost 閱讀前哨站. A native Taiwanese and an avid reader who grew his email list from zero to more than 13,000 loyal followers in less than a couple of years while juggling his first full time job. His podcast has been downloaded more than 1 million times.

I asked Waki why reading can help us become a better-self.

His answer was liberating.

Reading can build kindness because we can only understand more about others when we know more about people’s lives. Reading gives us an open attitude that the world is full of possibilities, allows serendipity and helps us learn and develop a better future version of us.

This is also the first time Waki has debuted in English podcast.

His favourite books are:

1. Atomic habits (Waki's best book) by James Clear

2. Four Pillars of Investment by William Bernstein

3. Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport
