What parents struggle with EP15
Chhin Lee, Founder of Little Monkey
Everyone has a hero, for Chhin, it’s her mum.
Not only did her mother live through the Cambodian geonicde in the late 70s, she also had to look after four kids. When their family escaped from Cambodia to Vietnam, her husband was caught back in Cambodia and got locked up in prison for one and a half years. She took a train to feed him every day while looking after all her kids alone. Unfortunately Chhin lost one of her sisters due to illness. But what amazes me even more is that, despite the hardship, Chhin became the first generation of Asian American and was able to receive her education in the United States. Her mum is an unsung family hero and Chhin’s resilience came from her.
After a very successful sales career, Chhin turned her parenting passion into her side hustle. She became a socialpreneur and founded Little Monkey, Hong Kong’s first child-friendly facilities’ directory which aims to improve the lives of parents and children. I have known Chhin for many years and she is full of great qualities as a friend. She’s a giver, super dedicated to her family, authentic and very resourceful when it comes to parenting.
In this episode, I joined with Chhin Lee, founder of Little Monkey to talk about the common struggles behind parents and the key to maintaining relationships with your spouse. Parenting and healthy spouse relationship requires active communication, feedback with good intent and teamwork, listen in as Chhin shares her parenting journey, her hero, the conversations she had with other parents and how she and her spouse resolve the different challenges.
