Happy Unstuck Tuesday!
Here are 1 unstuck idea, 1 learning and 1 question for this week.
1 Unstuck Idea
Last Sunday, I was on my way to a local bread shop with my wife. I saw a dad walking out of their building holding his cute daughter with one hand. The little girl was wearing a safety vest, one that you attach it to the car seat for carpools. The vest promises safety and convenience.
They walked down the stairs, made a left and headed for the crossing. I shook my head. My wife asked me, "What's wrong?" I told my wife I feel sorry for the kid.
The dad was looking at his phone the whole time. He had his head up briefly just before crossing the road and then went back to his phone while they were crossing the road.
'The Absent Parenting' I sighed.
What's more dangerous
Road traffic or our inability to detach from pervasive technology?
Who's more important
The right hand that you are holding your loved one or the left hand that you are glued to your phone?
1 Lesson from Others
The phrase 'Digital Remorse' came up during a talk I had with Ross Parker, the Author of Screen That Eats Children.
"When we die, I don't think anyone would say they wish they had played more Candy Crush. They would probably wish they had played less and had spent more time with people they love." Ross says.
Ross and I have a lot of overlap. We are both digital enthusiasts turned digital critic.
1 Question to Reflect
"Do you have any digital remorse?"
PS All original. No AI. I don't believe in shortcuts.
PPS If you feel inspired, please share this link with others. If you don't, tell me why. = )
With gratitude,
