My 3 year old son did his first hike over the weekend. The hike was about 2.6km. 2 minutes into the hike. He said he was tired and couldn’t do it anymore.
“There’s egg waffle (his favourite food) at the top.” I said.
He ascended 400m.
I brought a packet of nuts with me.
“How about this, every time we see a 100m sign, you get a pea?”
He ascended another 1km.
Only 1km left and the finish line was in sight.
He was really struggling at this point. So, I said to him, “how about we split the last 1km? I carry you for 100m and then you walk 100m?” He grinned.
When we set goals for others, set them with compassion and mindful intentions. Offer help, celebrate small wins, be there and help them succeed. Don’t reprimand someone simply because they did not meet their goals. Pat them on the back for trying their best.
Building a better world through positivity.
